Dr. Steven Ray is a family and cosmetic dentist serving the Kalamazoo and Portage areas of Southwest Michigan. We are dedicated to providing excellent dental care while striving to give you the most pleasant dental experience possible.
Our staff takes the time to get to know you and to address your personal concerns, assuring your personal comfort. We have recently remodeled our office in an effort to make your experience as easy and comfortable as possible. Our inviting reception area has comfortable couches and chairs, a coffee bar with a selection of coffee, tea, and water, a kids play area with books, games, and a Xbox 360. Our treatment rooms are outfitted with the latest state-of-the-art dental technology. We utilize the latest digital x-rays that are not only more comfortable, but also emit a fraction of the radiation of conventional films. Our chairs are made of ultra-leather and are extremely comfortable; neck pillows and blankets are also available. LED TV's are mounted in each room to help you relax and make you feel more at-home. If there is anything we can do to make your visit more pleasurable, please do not hesitate to ask.
We provide a complete range of dental services, from professional cleanings and preventative care to the more complex restorative and cosmetic dental treatments such as tooth whitening (bleaching), cosmetic bonding, crowns, veneers and dental implants.
Dr. Ray has also had extensive training in adult orthodontics. He is a Certified provider for both Invisalign and Six Month Smiles. Invisalign utilizes a series of clear aligners to straighten your teeth. The aligners are very comfortable and practically invisible. Six Month Smiles uses tooth colored brackets and wire and can straighten your teeth in much less time. Please ask us what system would be best for you!
Meet Dr. Ray
I was raised here in the Kalamazoo area and attended Portage Central. It was there I met my wife Mindy, who I now have two beautiful children with, Mason and Lilyana. The newest addition to our family is our Goldendoodle, Izzo. My undergraduate studies were done at Michigan State University where I graduated with my B.S. from the Lyman Briggs College. From there it was off to the "City of Brotherly Love", Philadelphia. There I graduated from Temple University School of Dentistry with my D.M.D (Doctor of Dental Medicine; most of the dental schools on the East and West coasts award the D.M.D degree versus the D.D.S which is seen more often in Michigan). As much as we loved the city when it came time to expand our family we moved back home to Kalamazoo. When I'm not at the office I enjoy playing with my kids, tennis, golf and skiing. I continually work to expand my knowledge and skills by attending hundreds of hours of continuing education. I am a member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, and the Kalamazoo Valley District Dental Society.
Meet Dr. Howell
I was raised just north of Grand Rapids, in a family of five children. I have a twin sister, not identical, but we do look alike. We all attended Rockford Public Schools and during my high school career I was a four-year varsity rower on the Rockford Crew Team. I completed my undergraduate degrees at Michigan State University, through the Lyman Briggs College. I earned my D.M.D (Doctor of Dental Medicine) degree from Midwestern University Dental School in the Chicago suburbs. I have always loved Michigan and decided to move to Kalamazoo to continue my career in dentistry. I am married to my wonderful husband Josh and we have a baby girl. In my free time, I love to garden, hunt, camp, and play with any dogs I can find.
